December 03 My Buddy n MeBefore I had Lincoln, I remember Tenaya telling me that having a kid is like having a little buddy around to spend the day with. I liked the way that sounded. It made it seem fun and playful. To be honest, Tenaya is one of the few people who painted having kids in a positive light before I had the baby. Most people would always talk about how hard it was, or how exhausted they were, and very few people focused on the positive aspects of having a newborn in their lives. Most people said it was amazing, but we mostly heard complaining. We had to consciously ask about the positive things to get it out of people.
Now that Lincoln is around, we spend 100% of our time together (I have been away from him a total of 3 times so far and for no more than 2 hours a pop). And you know what? He is my little buddy! We hang out. He eats a lot, so I spend most of my days feeding him. But we also listen to records and sing and dance around the house, we play dress up and I put cute outfits on him (before he grows out of them), we play with his toys, we go for walks and jogs with Roostie, we run errands, we take baths, tidy up the house together, we watch TV and play XBOX. Basically anything I do, he does it with me. Do you remember that kid's toy from when you were younger called My Buddy? I still remember the theme song from the commercial. So I sing that to Lincoln every day and modify it to document what we are doing with our days. I love my little buddy.
