April 24 when hanging with your husband makes you feel like a kid againMe: You wanna ride bikes tonight?
Rog: Yah! That sounds great!
Away we go with the dog, riding bikes around the neighborhood and the Seward Park loop, laughing at the dogs antics and Roger's struggles to simultaneously manage the pooch while riding his bike. It was a leisurely cycle around the park on a beautiful evening.
This might be my favorite time of the year in the neighborhood--sunshine opportunities, Lake Wa Blvd and people's gardens have exploded with springtime color, the birds are out and about, and the motorboats have yet to arrive in Andrews Bay (so it is still peaceful and quiet and you can commune with nature). Soon it will be summer and our 'hood will be a madhouse with boats anbd races/events at the Park and in the lake. Until then I am loving every moment out in the yard, walks with the dog, and of course, hanging with my man. April 13 Snack WarsThings I snack on due to JB's power of pursuasion:
Things I consume because I feel they will give JB the best chances for success:
JB is winning on the snack front. Just got back from the doctor and have discovered I have already gained 13 lbs (and JB is only 14 weeks in there). April 10 I missed my calling...I should have been a SeaHag! Guess they won’t be interested in an early thirties professional with a baby bump, so I won't even bother gracing them with my no-talent presence at the tryouts. Now I'm never gonna get my chance to rub elbows with cutie Shaun Alexander or Matt Hasslebeck... I want to know how “physical appearance” is one of the judging criteria. Have you seen these ladies on the sidelines? We don’t call them SeaHags in our household for nothing. I also love how ‘pizzazz’ is one of the three criteria. How does one quantify pizzazz? Isn’t that an intangible element? If you feel like wasting some time...check out some of the audition videos from previous years. This is just screaming for its own local reality show on Kong or Komo or something. April 08 What's better than Easter Brunch?Eating Easter Brunch in the sun with friends...and then racing our Egg Racers to victory. The timing was perfect for brunch...it was sunny and warm and spring-like. All of the food was super tasty. Go Potluck!
Everyone's carts were so creative! I'm very impressed by our friends. All of the vehicles were distinctive. Surprisingly--no one vehicle was alike. I was surprised by what people were able to cobble together with items found in their homes. Very cool.
My ride was a tribute to the new vehicle...a family wagon for eggs. I'm pleased to announce that CD's are excellent wheels for an egg racer. I hope this is a tradition we continue in subsequent years. It was so much fun. We were all entertained by racing the cars and the neighbors were also very intrigued by our activities.
I can't stop eating the Chocolate Mousse that CD made. I'm in love...and it tastes like creamy chocolate.
the New WhipWhooo! We got a new Kurtz Whip!
Check out Roger in our stylish 2004 Mazda6 Wagon.
Purchased used with 22k miles and a 1.5 year warranty remaining. We picked it up in lovely Olympia this weekend.
A BIG step up from the Febreeze.
Things I love about the new ride: The V6 engine (VROOOM!); the 'new car' smell; the large space in the back for Roostie (including a pull up gate); the sporty steering wheel.
yaye!
April 06 Oh Breezy! There is certainly no love lost between me and the Plymouth Breeze. I’ve done a lot of shit-talking about the Febreeze over the years, including vocal statements like “The Febreeze is Dead to Me.” But sadly, I spoke too soon, the Febreeze is indeed dead. Transmission appears to be blown and the brakes were on the outs and I absolutely refuse to put one single penny toward that car. Last Friday, as I tried to drive it up a hill it wouldn’t go any faster than 15mph. I was laughing so hard I had tears streaming down my eyes. Monday, Roger said to me, I don’t think the Breezy is going to last another two weeks. Then, I got a plaintive call from Roger on Tuesday night, “Can you come get me… the Breezey died”. Oh! Suddenly I felt all soft and emotional about that piece of crap ride. I guess I took the Breeze for granted. I fully admit I was not its biggest fan, but once I heard it was dead I kept thinking, “Oh, Poor Breezy.” The Breeze treated us right for a solid 5-6 years, but what can you expect from an American made vehicle after it surpasses the 120,000 mile mark? We had some good times in that car. Like when it broke down when we were going hiking with Dave and Lauren. Or that one time when we were going tubing on the Tolt and it died while Mark and Beth were in the car. Good times indeed. Well, I guess it was a good road trip vehicle, and it certainly carted us and our friends all over town for years. I think Roostie will miss her whip the most. It was appropriately full of her filth. I told her it was busted the other day…and I might be imagining it, but she looked a little more mopey than usual. : - ) Over the past month or two we have half-assedly researched cars, but let’s just say after 3 days of being a one-truck family, we have accelerated the car search. We hope to buy a new-to-us vehicle tomorrow. Whee!!! New Kurtz Ride! No more piece of shit Breezy. RIP Febreeze…RIP. |
